After receiving the award as Artiste of the Year, Black Sherif made a solitary gesture of love that opened additional doors for him in the music industry.

While accepting his prestigious trophy at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Blacko, as he is sometimes known, paid tribute to legendary singer Adane Best by performing a stanza from his decade-old Maafio song.

The reason, he said to Adomonline.com during an interview on TV3, is that the song conveys a message of optimism that his forecasts about the music industry and awards would come true.

He went on to say that he idolises Adane Best since he grew up listening to his music thanks to his mother, who is a huge Adane fan.

“Singing Adane Best’ song on stage is like a culture. I love him soo much. The love did not start today or five years ago, we love him from home. My mother loves him so much. I have even recorded a song for him.”

While he was still singing songs in Adane’s honour, the legendary performer shocked him by ringing in to express his profound appreciation.

As he listened intently to the words of blessings his idol announced into his life, Blacko was struck speechless and in astonishment.

Adane Best praised Blacko for reminding the world of his heritage and for openly expressing his affection for him on such a huge scale.

The two teased a potential cooperation in the coming days.
