Arsenal defender William Saliba has agreed to a new four-year contract extension until 2027.
After making his first-team debut in August, the 22-year-old French centre-back became an important figure for the Gunners last season.
He appeared in 33 games, 27 of which were in the Premier League, and scored three goals in total.
The Gunners led the lead for much of the season until falling to eventual champions Manchester City.
“Having William extend his contract with us was something we had wanted to do for a long time,” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stated. Last season, William showed how talented and valuable he is to our team.
“The ability he has at his young age of just 22 is exciting, and there is of course so much more room for development with any player at this stage of their career. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with William in the years to come.”

Saliba was allegedly a target for Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain.
His breakout season came after three loan experiences in French football, having joined Arsenal from St Etienne for £27 million in 2019 when Unai Emery was manager.

Forward Reiss Nelson also signed a new four-year contract with an option for another year on Thursday.
Following Kai Havertz’s £65 million move from Chelsea earlier this summer, the Gunners are said to be close to signing England midfielder Declan Rice and Ajax’s Dutch defender Jurrien Timber.
Meanwhile, midfielder Granit Xhaka has joined Bayer Leverkusen in a 25 million euro (£21.4 million) agreement.
