Security analyst conveys critical warning to Interior Minister regarding suspected attempt to depose IGP

Sadiq Adu Twum, a security expert, has voiced dissatisfaction with Interior Minister Ambrose Dery’s handling of the latest audio leak involving an alleged attempt to depose Inspector-General of Police Dr George Akuffo Dampare.

Mr Twum expressed remorse on Adom FM’s Evening News about Mr Dery’s comments asking Ghanaians to disregard the leaked recording.

Mr Twum stressed that the Interior Minister’s remarks were wrong and that serious action, rather than mere rhetoric, was required.

“Ambrose Dery’s earlier statement advising Ghanaians to ignore the audio is regrettable,” he said. This is a serious subject that requires our undivided attention. It is important that we take it seriously and respond accordingly.”

Mr Twum emphasised the necessity of the Interior Minister assuring the people and acknowledging the seriousness of the issue, rather than downplaying it.

“We cannot just dismiss it. “Immediate attention and decisive action are required,” he continued.

Allegations of a conspiracy to replace the Inspector-General of Police sparked the debate.

Mr Dery vigorously refuted these allegations, denying any government or New Patriotic Party (NPP) participation in the alleged plot.

“I believe you should treat it with the disdain it deserves. There is no scheme to remove anyone, and I am not aware of any. “As far as I’m concerned, he’s doing a good job,” he said.

The leaked recording, although not naming anyone, apparently involves a high-ranking police officer and a member of the NPP, and is part of a bigger plan to rig the 2024 elections.
