Sunyani Teaching Hospital sod cutting is a fake – Akandoh

He went on to say that the sod cutting is just another attempt by the administration to mislead the people of Bono and the country. Mr Akandoh said that "... the alleged sod cutting under an IMF plan and the proximity to an election year is questionable - especially when the project was not budgeted for." After dismantling the well-functioning La General Hospital and an Accident and Emergency Centre at the Dormaa Hospital, the ranking member reminded Ghanaians of the government's inability to fund comparable developments promised over the years.

Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Member of Parliament for Juaboso and Ranking Member for Health, has called the government’s sod-cutting event to transform the Bono Regional Hospital in Sunyani into a Teaching Hospital a fraud.

On Saturday, Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman-Manu turned the sod for the project. In a statement delivered on Wednesday on behalf of the Minority in Parliament, Mr Mintah Akandoh stated the government’s 2024 budget statement and financial forecasts included no provision for the building or extension of the Sunyani Hospital.

“There is no known government policy, financial allocation and the political will to undertake such an expansion of the facility into a teaching facility, and the minister knows there is no allocation in the 2024 budget,” the MP noted.

He went on to say that the sod cutting is just another attempt by the administration to mislead the people of Bono and the country.
