Black Stars maintain place in FIFA World rankings

Ghana’s Black Stars are ranked 59th in the current FIFA men’s global rankings, which were issued on Thursday, July 20. The lack of progress can be due to their one June encounter, which resulted in a 0-0 stalemate with Madagascar.

The Black Stars have shown great potential under head coach Chris Hughton, maintaining unbeaten with a victory over Angola in Kumasi and two draws.

These wins have put Ghana in a good position to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

There have been no changes to the global top 10, which is still dominated by European and South American clubs. Argentina remains the world champion, followed by France in second and Brazil in third. England, Belgium, and Croatia take the fourth, fifth, and sixth slots, respectively.

Morocco remains the top-ranked team in Africa (13th overall), with Senegal in 18th place, Tunisia in 31st, Algeria in 33rd, and Egypt in 34th. Nigeria, Cameroon, and Ivory Coast round out Africa’s top 10, placing 39th, 42nd, and 52nd, respectively.
