Liverpool’s third bid for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia has been rejected.
The current bid for the 19-year-old Belgian is thought to be around £46 million, including add-ons, with Southampton allegedly demanding £50 million.
On Friday, Lavia was an unused replacement in Southampton’s 2-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship.
He joined Saints from Manchester City for £10.5 million last summer.
Lavia made 34 appearances in all competitions for Southampton season 2022-23, however, he was unable to save them from being relegated to the Championship.
Liverpool are aiming to strengthen their midfield with a third signing after Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all left the club this summer.
Jurgen Klopp signed World Cup-winning Argentina midfielder Alexis MacAllister from Brighton in June for an initial fee of £35 million, while Dominik Szoboszlai joined the Reds in July for a fee of £60 million from RB Leipzig.
