In a recent interview, Okomfo Black, son of famed artist Mzbel, stated his religious beliefs appear to be the start of his problems.

Okomfo Black and his family have pleaded to break from their traditional and ancestral devotion in a community where Christianity and Islam are the prevalent religions.

In a recent interview, Okomfo Black questioned the reality of the Almighty deity, claiming that because every creature is a deity, no particular attention should be given to any ultimate monarch.

His statements did not sit well with traditionalist Ghanaians, and many of his classmates’ parents are taking precautions to keep him out of the spotlight.

Mzbel, his other half, exposed the tragic circumstances in a recent Facebook post.

A Facebook user stated, “After the spectacular and ear-catching interview of #okomfoblack, at his age and the in-depth knowledge he has about our ancestors, at school and his neighbourhood, I know the African Ghanaian Christians will start advising their children never to make him their friend, but the good thing is that the gods and the ancestors got your back always champion.”

Mzbel said that his son is already in a difficult situation at school.

Though she did not go into detail about her son’s treatment, she stated that other parents have strongly urged their children not to connect with Okomfo Black for fear that he may dilute their Christian understanding.

Mzbel, on the other hand, stated that the unjust action has not affected her badly and that she is pleased that he knows his ancestral practices and values.
