Supporters of Muntaka Mubarak and his opponent, Masawudu Mubarick, engaged in a fight, which was quickly put down by Ghana Police Service officials.
The police officers’ involvement kept the chaos from escalating.
Muntaka supporters said that Masawudu Mubarick supporters booed the incumbent Asawase MP as he left the centre after voting.
The claim triggered a brief brawl amongst the fans.
Following the involvement of the police, however, calm has been restored.
Meanwhile, delegates are gathering at the centre to vote.
