Nollywood actress, Adejumoke Aderounmu of Jenifa’s Diary dies at 40

Adejumoke Aderounmu, a Nollywood actress best known for her role as “Esther” in Funke Akindele’s renowned TV series Jenifa’s Diary, has died.

Her brother, Adeola Aderounmu, announced her death in a mysterious Instagram post labelled, “You are in a better place now, my sister,” which included an obituary photo.

Also, a friend of the deceased cousin, Oluwabanke Funmi, said on Twitter, “Rest in peace, Aderounmu Adejumoke.”

Another obituary picture spreading on social media, apparently issued by the family, said, “In the profound depths of grief and sorrow, we share the heartbreaking passing of our sister, daughter, aunt, Aderounmu Adejumoke Oreoluwa.”

Aderounmu’s acting career began in her birthplace of Abeokuta, where she was born into a five-member family. After finishing her schooling, she began acting professionally, creating a name for herself in the field.

Her breakout performance came in 2016 when she played Esther in “Jenifa’s Diary,” which won her over both fans and critics. Adejumoke’s depiction of the feisty and tenacious Esther demonstrated her flexibility as an actor, winning her critical acclaim and a place in viewers’ hearts.

Dr Lawrence Tetteh, the founder of Worldwide Miracle Outreach, has described a remarkable interaction on a plane between former President John Mahama and dancehall King Shatta Wale.

Dr Lawrence Tetteh said over the weekend that he and the two boarded the same airline to London and were seated close together.

According to him, Shatta Wale approached him and asked him to escort him to John Mahama’s aisle for a quick rendezvous, which he consented to because it was mutual between the two sides.
