'Not All Gospel Musicians Are Christians.' - Moses OK

Moses OK, a veteran Ghanaian gospel musician, has stated that not all musicians who compose or perform gospel songs know God or have a relationship with the Holy Spirit.

People may sing about God, but that does not imply that they know God or have been called to that ministry, according to him.

The ‘Osoro Taa Wakyi’ singer made these comments during a Monday interview on #TheZone.

He was responding to a question about some gospel musicians’ fashion sense, which many see as indecent and ungodly, especially during performances and music videos.

In his submission, he paraphrased a chapter in Luke 17 vs 1-4, “The Bible says that the thing that causes people to sin will certainly come, but woe unto anyone whom through that person that a person falls.”

“From my perspective, it is not appropriate, it is not right for a child of God, who knows God and has the spirit of God in him,” he said. We must recognise that not all people who sing gospel songs are Christians or know God.”

Disappointment is one reaction to gospel musicians who appear to dress inappropriately. Many Christians expect gospel musicians to be role models in all aspects of their lives, including their fashion sense. They believe that gospel performers should dress in a way that reflects Christian values such as modesty and simplicity.

This disagreement has frequently discouraged many people from listening to gospel music, particularly that of some Ghanaian gospel musicians.

Moses OK, on the other hand, believes that people who are easily discouraged from enjoying gospel music because of the actions of its singers are being harsh. “We have people making such statements, but they are completely false,” he explained. You shouldn’t have to conclude or judge an entire industry or ministry based on the actions of one, two, or three people.”

“You must understand, as I previously stated, that there are those who do not have a relationship with the Holy Spirit because when you truly have the spirit of God in you, the spirit of God will prompt you.” He will inform you that your actions are not glorified.”
