NPP thugs allegedly storm UTV to attack A Plus and halt United Showbiz

The NPP leadership had written to UTV, expressing their dissatisfaction with panellists on the United Showbiz programme who routinely criticised and derided the administration. This tendency, they contended, raised concerns about the program's motivations, as well as an unjustifiable increase in insulting comments directed towards President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during recent episodes. On Saturday, October 7, 2023, claimed thugs linked with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) attacked the UTV studios, unexpectedly suspending the live transmission of United Showbiz.

Voices of agitation could be heard in the background around seven minutes into the show, which was streamed live on GhanaWeb when host Mzgee launched the programme. The host’s obvious perplexity was followed by a prolonged delay in production before the programme was ultimately taken off the air.

Numerous accounts that emerged following the show’s abrupt suspension imply that it was disrupted by a gang of individuals who invaded the studios with aggressive intentions.

According to these accounts, the irate persons entered the studio with the apparent intention of attacking Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A Plus, a regular panellist on the show.

Following social media videos show a tumultuous situation inside the UTV studio, with numerous guys shouting out for A Plus.

“We’re expecting A Plus today… A Plus must explain why he ripped our publication from the NPP party. We’ve arrived and are awaiting A Plus. “We’re protecting our party property,” one of the men shouts in the studio.

A Plus rips apart the NPP’s Reform United Showbiz letter on live television.

On September 30, 2023, musician and activist Kwame A Plus used live television to shred a letter from the New Patriotic Party to UTV management, in which they sought revisions to the United Showbiz programme.

During the September 30 programme, A Plus, a regular panellist on the show, read a copy of the letter and harshly criticised its substance as well as the appropriateness of its release.

He called the letter “useless,” claiming it tarnished the NPP’s credibility and threatened to undermine clear constitutional protections governing media freedom.

“This letter is revolting because we have received calls from people threatening to shut down UTV United Showbiz,” A Plus said, tearing his copy of the letter into pieces.

He went on to say that while 90% of UTV’s viewers were NPP supporters, they were appreciated for their contributions to the network.

“NPP members should abstain from such actions and never write a letter like this again.” This letter is ridiculous.

“No one in this country can tell us what to do on this show, especially since Ghana’s President is a seasoned lawyer who believes in the rule of law.” “Never write such things again,” he insisted.

Celestine Donkor comments about reports of getting weight loss surgery

According to her study, physicians typically prescribe such procedures based on health evaluations, especially if one's life is in danger owing to weight-related difficulties. However, in her instance, Celestine stated that she is quite fit and has never suffered high blood pressure or other abnormalities linked with being plus size, so surgery is not a possibility for her at this time, unless advised. "I am plus-sized yet highly active. In a marathon, I might even outperform a lot of slender folks. The obesity is in my genes; my family is large. I've never had high blood pressure or anything. I get frequent check-ups, drink enough of water, and get adequate rest, so I'm in good health."

Celestine Donkor, a gospel performer, has spoken out about claims that she is considering weight loss surgery.

Celestine stressed that she has not made a decision, thus “I wouldn’t say no and I wouldn’t say yes.”

Recognising the cultural pressure to maintain a specific image, particularly as an artist, the singer stated that she has weighed the health risks of body-altering operations.

Doreen Avio said in an interview with Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz that her phobia of knives is another barrier keeping her from undergoing surgery.

Celestine said that she had enough incisions on her body from her three caesarean sections during delivery.

In light of this, she prefers dieting and other less dangerous options such as exercise and intermittent fasting.

Celestine chose to invest in her soul above her body, despite receiving nearly GH¢50,000 for surgery.

“I am confident that if I have GH¢40,000 or GH¢50,000 to work on this body, I will invest in my soul.” This body will expire, no matter how thin and well-carved it is.
The useless thing after death is the human body; even animal bodies have value since we utilise them as sustenance, but for people, the corpse is no longer worthy of being discarded.”

Celestine Donkor warned her admirers to embrace her for who she is, as she will not endanger her life to adhere to conventional notions of what a perfect woman should look like.
