Sarkodie, the iconic Ghanaian rapper, has finally released a song addressing the current issue surrounding his relationship with Yvonne Nelson on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
In her memoir, “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson,” which was released on June 18, 2023, the popular actress claimed that the rapper pushed her to abort their kid.
Yvonne Nelson claims that when she told Sarkodie she was pregnant, she could hear his pulse pumping and that when he finally found his words, he hesitated.
His message, on the other hand, was unequivocal. He was opposed to the pregnancy. That would be detrimental to him and his career. The only choice was to remove it.
Many people were taken aback by the news because there had been no prior evidence that the two were in an intimate connection.
Sarkodie addressed some of the charges made by the acclaimed actress in the book in the 3-minute-16-second song “Try Me,” which was performed in Akan Twi, English, and Pidgin.
He denies pushing her to get an abortion and maintains that she was the one who was promiscuous.
When Yvonne disclosed the pregnancy, he assumed she was just “trying to start another drama,” but he told her to keep it even though he wasn’t prepared.
He went on to say that it was Yvonne’s idea to have the baby aborted because she was in school.
The song’s lyric video depicts a female astronaut descending from space. This is supposed to be a reference to Nelson’s career, which has been in decline since the publication of her book.
The publishing of “Try Me” indicates that Sarkodie is dissatisfied with Nelson’s book. He had stated that he intended to take the situation “to my grave,” but chose to speak up after believing that Nelson was distorting the reality.
It’s unclear how Nelson will react to “Try Me.” However, it is evident that this is a dispute that will not end soon.
