The Ghana National Supporters Union attended a burial ceremony in Accra for Sir Bobby Charlton, the late England and Manchester United great.

Many Ghanaians were surprised when videos of the occurrence became popular on social media.

The event coincided with Charlton’s burial in England when roughly 1,000 mourners paid their respects to the football legend.

Although the Ghana National Supporters Union has not offered a lengthy reason for their decision, it is a genuine tribute to a guy who dedicated his career to delighting football fans worldwide.

Sir Bobby Charlton, who made 758 appearances for Manchester United, died on October 21 at the age of 86. Crowds lined the streets as the funeral cortège arrived at Old Trafford before travelling to Manchester Cathedral.

In England, football personalities such as former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and players such as Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Roy Keane, Steve Bruce, Paddy Crerand, and Andy Cole condoled during the memorial ceremony.

Current players Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw went, as did former manager and player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and England manager Gareth Southgate.

The presence of the Prince of Wales, head of the English Football Association, graced the special ceremony at the cathedral in the heart of Manchester. The simultaneous monuments in Ghana and England underlined Sir Bobby Charlton’s global effect on the beautiful game.
