According to authorities, a mosque in the Nigerian city of Zaria fell during prayers, killing at least seven people.
On Friday, hundreds of devotees were present in the building.
An inquiry is being conducted to determine the reason of the collapse. On Thursday, the emir of the region notified local media that a break had been noticed in one of the walls.
The mosque is said to be over a century old. Building collapses have a long history in Nigeria.
“Four bodies were found initially,” a council spokesman Abdullahi Kwarbai told Reuters news agency.
“Then three others were found after the rescue team searched the collapsed mosque,” Mr Kwarbai added.
The Emir, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, informed Punch News that a team of experts had been assembled to repair the building’s break.
