A guy in his 50s was discovered hanging from a tree near the Volta River in Kpong, Eastern Region.
When the neighbourhood discovered the man’s body, they instantly recognised him as the same guy they had seen around the vicinity the night before.
The corpse was discovered on Saturday morning, and the matter was promptly reported to the Kpong Police after being told, according to Gershon Amaglo, Assemblyman for Kpong Zongo Electoral Area.
He added that the dead was unknown to the locals and that there were suspicions of suicide.
According to the assemblyman’s statement, investigators uncovered a mobile phone and a brown box with a white envelope labelled 666 when searching his suitcase.
They also discovered a little red handbag with a ring.
When the Ghana News Agency approached the Kpong Police, they refused to engage with us because they said they were not permitted to speak publicly.
The deceased’s identity was unknown.
However, a source speculated that the dead may have been travelling at the time of his death because no one in the neighbourhood could identify him.
“We were unable to identify the body, and it appears that the deceased was travelling when he arrived in Kpong,” a person familiar with the matter said.
According to the report, “I am unsure of what exactly transpired because we observed the deceased’s luggage, bags, and other belongings, and everyone in the area claims they are unaware of him.”
According to the source, during a casual physical examination of the deceased, “there was a small mark on his forehead, and then he was bleeding from the nose as if he had fallen on his forehead.”
Meanwhile, the body has been moved to Odumase Krobo’s Atua Government Hospital Mortuary for preservation and post-mortem testing. The police inquiry is still ongoing.
