Black Queens will face Rwanda in the first round of the 2024 WAFCON qualifications

The Black Queens, Ghana’s senior female national side, has been drawn against Rwanda in the first round of qualification for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The opponents were unveiled at a draw event in Rabat, Morocco, on Thursday, July 6.

The winner of the two-legged match will face the winner of the match between The Gambia and Namibia in the second round.

The first round of qualifications will take place from September 18 to September 26, 2023, with the second round taking place from November 27 to December 5, 2023.

Eleven (11) teams are expected to qualify from the second round to participate alongside host Morocco in the main round.

The Black Queens began training for the qualifications some months ago. They played three friendly matches, one against Benin and two against Senegal, all of which they won to prepare for competitive matches.

They were eliminated from the 2022 WAFCON, which was hosted in Morocco, after losing to Nigeria, and they are eager to make amends in this qualifying series.
