The relief packages offered by the parliamentarians include: "An order directing the Ministry of Finance to establish the Ghana Financial Stability Fund (GFSF) through an express Act of Parliament, outlining clear legal stipulations regarding its administration, mechanisms for disbursing funds, and procedures for fund recovery, in accordance with articles 93(2), 108, 175, 176, 178, and 179 of the Constitution of Ghana." An injunction prohibiting the Ministry of Finance from implementing or using the present "Operational Framework of the Ghana Financial Stability Fund (GFSF) for the administration, disbursement, withdrawal, or recovery of funds," since it is unlawful and unconstitutional. Earlier, Mahama Ayariga chastised the Finance Minister for establishing the Ghana Financial Stability Fund (GFSF) without legislative consent.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership has announced that Hopeson Adorye, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow, and Boniface Abubakar Saddique are no longer members of the party after publicly endorsing someone other than the NPP’s duly elected Presidential Candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The NPP claimed in a statement that the four had forfeited their membership due to blatant violations of the Party’s Constitution, namely Articles 3(5) (A)(4) and 3(9)(1).

The NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, issued a statement in which he stated that Article 3(5) (A) (4) of the NPP Constitution requires all members of the Party to “abide by and publicly uphold the Party’s decisions.”

Additionally, Article 3(9) (I) of the Constitution provides that “A Member of the Party who stands as an independent candidate against the officially elected member of the Party or who joins or declares his or her support for another Political Party, or for an independent candidate when the Party has sponsored a candidate in a general or by-election automatically forfeits his or her membership of the Party.”

The Party urged its members to remain steadfast in their support of the duly elected Presidential Candidate, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, and to work together to achieve victory in the 2024 polls.

Below is the full statement

FORFEITURE OF MEMBERSHIP PURSUANT TO THE PROVISION OF ARTICLE 3(9)(1) OF THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY CONSTITUTION

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken notice of recent activities of Hopeson Adorye, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow and Boniface Abubakar Saddique which includes publicly endorsing the candidature of a person other than the duly elected Presidential Candidate of the Party: His Excellency Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawurnia.

In spite of their flagrant breach of the Party’s Constitution particularly’ Articles 3(5) (A)(4) and 3(9)(1) the afore-named men still hold themselves out as members of the NPP.

For the avoidance of doubt, Article 3(5) (A) (4) of the NPP Constitution enjoins all members of the Party to -abide by and publicly uphold the decisions of the Party” In addition, Article 3(9) (I) of the Constitution provides as follows: -A Member of the Party who stands as an independent candidate against the officially elected member of the Party or who joins or declares his or her support for another Political Party, or for an independent candidate when the Party has sponsored a candidate in a general or by-election automatically forfeits his or her membership of the Party”.

In line with these constitutional provisions, it is the view of the NPP that Hopeson Adorye, Nana Ohene Ntow, Boniface Abubakar Saddique and Yaw Buaben Asamoa have AUTOMATICALLY FORFEITED their membership of the Party.

They are, therefore, no longer members of the Party.

The NPP entreats its members to remain true to their duties as per Article 3(5) of the party Constitution. We further call Upon our members to bear in mind that the Party’s focus is to unite its ranks and rally the support of Ghanaians to make history by winning the 2024 general elections.

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that his planned 24-hour economy proposal is the solution to Ghana’s financial and economic problems.

In a unique live broadcast titled ‘Mahama Conversations,’ the former president stated that the planned 24-hour economic project is the solution to Ghana’s current and future concerns.

Mr. Mahama stated that the effort will provide an enabling and supportive environment for enterprises, companies, and government agencies to create more jobs and hire more people.

He detailed the benefits of the 24-hour economy project, which he claims would raise and increase the standard of life for many more Ghanaians.

“The 24-hour initiative is the answer for now and in the future. It will create an enabling environment with deliberate policies for businesses, companies, and government institutions to operate 24/7 in a three-eight-hour shift system.

“In addition to the traditional 8-hour shift system, the two additional work shifts that my administration will introduce will double and sometimes triple the number of jobs that participate in public and private entities that we currently have.

“This is the 24-hour economy optimization strategy: giving more to society, providing efficient service delivery, and generating decent and well-paying jobs. The benefits of this system will include but not limited to; 24-hour port and harbour services, 24-hour customs services, 24-hour DVLA services, 24-hour agro-processing factories, 24-hour manufacturing industries, 24-hour construction companies and many more.”

Making reference to former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah's controversial stashing of over $1 million in her Abelemkpe residence, which was stolen by her domestic staff, Mr. Mahama pledged in a live broadcast titled 'Mahama Conversations,' that he will foster collaborations in his quest to recover every Cedi that was illegally taken from taxpayers. "Despite all of these socioeconomic challenges, the young people continue to witness the affluence of the [New Patriotic Party] administration's leaders and their families chartering private aircraft for $20,000 per hour for journeys that our own Falcon Executive Jet could have completed.

John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has pledged that if elected president in the upcoming December 7 general elections, his administration will work with relevant authorities and partners to recover funds and properties obtained through corruption.

Former President Mahama lamented the mounting incidences of corruption and apparent contempt for fiscal discipline by the Akufo-Addo administration, promising to do his utmost to guarantee that any funds wrongfully gained are recovered if he wins the forthcoming elections.

Referring to former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah’s controversial stashing of over $1 million in her Abelemkpe residence, which was stolen by her domestic staff, Mr Mahama pledged in a live broadcast titled ‘Mahama Conversations,’ that he will foster collaborations in his quest to recover every Cedi that was illegally taken from taxpayers.

“Despite all of these socioeconomic challenges, the young people continue to witness the affluence of the [New Patriotic Party] administration’s leaders and their families chartering private aircraft for $20,000 per hour for journeys that our own Falcon Executive Jet could have completed.

“And as the Minister for Defence explained, it [the Falcon Executive Jet] had no shower for a presidential bath. Ghana’s youth have further experienced how a minister could stash millions of dollars in her home and only God knows the full extent of Ghanaian taxpayers’ money that has been stashed away by many others.

“But I say to the good people of Ghana that, working with Ghanaians and international anti-corruption partners, we shall do all that is humanly possible to retrieve such wrongly acquired wealth.”
