According to the inquiry, there was no such Secretariat within the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources as the accused individual claimed. According to the prosecution, the Secretariat was also not registered with the Registrar Generals' Department. Following the start of the lawsuit, the aforementioned office, which serves as the Secretariat and is located at Octagon Towers in Accra, has been shut. According to the prosecution, the accused has asked for more time to restore the money. Mercy reimbursed GH10,000 on January 24, 2023, and the money was stored as an exhibit.

An Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a lady suspected of receiving GH₵100,000 from a businessman in order to get him a contract under the Ghana Cocoa Roads project.

Mercy Lilina Danquah, 38, reportedly failed to keep her commitments after receiving the money.

Danquah, accused of defrauding through false pretences, did not appear in court when the case was presented.

As a result, the prosecution, led by Inspector Wisdom Alorwu, sought a bench warrant for her arrest.

Mrs Ellen Ofei Ayeh presided over the court, which granted the prosecution’s motion.

The hearing has been rescheduled for October 11, 2023.

The prosecution’s argument was that the complainant, Bright Asante-Appiah, was a businessman who lived in East Legon, while the accused, Mercy, lived in Batsona.

According to the prosecution, the complainant approached Renaissance African Group in May 2021 for assistance in funding his project.

During the deliberation, the prosecution stated that he (Complainant) was found to be underfunded.

However, Renaissance African Group connected the complainant to the accused at the Octagon Towers, where she identified herself as directing the Ghana Mining Sector Road Rehabilitation Secretariat and said she could help him secure a $10 million Cocoa Road Contract.

According to the prosecution, the accused asked for and received GH₵100,000 as a contract fee under the guise of obtaining the contract for the complainant in September 2021.

According to the complaint, Mercy failed to keep her commitment after receiving the money and continued to make excuses to the complainant.

On July 31, 2021, a complaint was filed at the Adabraka Police Station, where the accused individual was apprehended and acknowledged for receiving the complainant’s money during the inquiry.

According to the prosecution, the accused said that the money was provided to support the construction of the alleged Ghana Mining Sector Road Rehabilitation Secretariat, a new office, in order for him to get the contract.

According to the inquiry, there was no such Secretariat within the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources as the accused individual claimed.

According to the prosecution, the Secretariat was also not registered with the Registrar Generals’ Department.

Following the start of the lawsuit, the aforementioned office, which serves as the Secretariat and is located at Octagon Towers in Accra, has been shut.

A Ghanaian couple living in the United States has been convicted of second-degree murder in the death of their five-year-old boy on Long Island, nearly three years after the horrific incident occurred.

Valerie Owusu and Emmanuel Addae were convicted of viciously assaulting the youngster with “at least four different instruments” over three days in 2021, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.
