Afro-dancehall sensation Livingstone Etse Satekla, also known as Stonebwoy, has sued aspiring politician and entertainment critic Sadiq Abdulai Abu, also known as Baba Sadiq, for comments posted on his X page (previously known as Twitter).

The reigning Ghanaian Artist of the Year filed a petition before the High Court of Justice on May 31, 2024, requesting that Baba Sadiq erase the offending tweets and issue an unconditional apology to Stonebwoy.

Stonebwoy is also requesting that the court give him GHS 3 million in damages for the injury that the tweets have caused to his reputation, claiming that Baba Sadiq behaved intentionally and with purpose to slander Stonebwoy by tweeting things he knew to be untrue.

The lawsuit comes as no surprise to those who are familiar with the circumstances underlying the tweets. Observers on social media were concerned by Stonebwoy’s decision to disregard Sadiq’s unsettling words, which implied that he was a violent female abuser.

The statements went viral and sparked significant debate among fans and the wider public because Stonebwoy has a lengthy history of advocating for women’s rights and has pioneered a number of charity initiatives to benefit women.

The writ demonstrates that the Ghanaian star is determined to safeguard his hard-earned reputation, as he has turned to the judicial system to assert his rights.

During a meeting with several up-and-coming artists, dancehall legend King Shatta Wale made a shocking disclosure that startled Ghanaians.

Shatta, who is now in Navrongo, talked with various artists in his hotel room about his experiences in the profession.

Among other things, he urged them against using illegal narcotics. He reported that after quitting smoking, his life had improved significantly.

Shatta Wale admitted that, despite his love of marijuana, he hasn’t smoked in the previous five months.

This period of abstinence, he claims, has helped him clear his thoughts, focus on his music, and establish his brand.

Shatta warned the artists to completely avoid tramadol and other class-A narcotics since they would have a negative influence on them.

The dancehall king advised the artists to focus entirely on the music and make great decisions for their personal and professional development.

Rapper Michael Owusu Addo, well known as Sarkodie, has officially backed Guru for President of the University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC).

On Friday, May 24, at the school’s Pent Hall Week Artiste Night, Sarkodie asked students to vote for Guru.

He claimed that Guru’s leadership will benefit the institution and provide more opportunities for creative persons.

“If you want me to come here again, then make Guru the President of the SRC,” he said.

Guru joins the ranks of celebrities competing for positions at academic institutions.

Notably, Samini oversaw the SRC at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), and Guru now hopes to do the same at the University of Ghana.
