Gyakie, a Ghanaian Afrobeat singer and composer, has claimed that she originally aspired to be an entrepreneur rather than a musician.
As a result, she majored in International Business at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where she began her music career.
On The Day Show with Berla Mundi, the “Forever” hitmaker explained how her career began after meeting her producer, Sosa, through a friend on the KNUST campus.
“So before I got into the university because that’s where everything started for me. Before I went to KNUST I just wanted to be an entrepreneur, I wanted to be getting money so I studied International Business in KNUST until I met my producer, Sosa on campus through a friend,” Gyakie revealed.
Gyakie goes on to say that immediately after their first encounter, Sosa sent her a beat, which became her debut single on streaming sites. She recognised she had songwriting talent as soon as she started listening to the beat.
“Never Like This,” a song she wrote, was made available on music streaming platforms for the first time.
Since then, the fast-rising singer has launched a string of songs, including “Something” and his most recent single “Rent Free,” which is already creating ripples on social media.
