I don't mind working on a song with Shatta Wale, but I must write the lyrics - Rev. YABS

Rev. YABS, a Ghanaian Gospel icon and songwriter, has stated that working with dancehall performer Shatta Wale will be no problem because he will be accountable for the substance of the tune to be released.

In an interview with Ama Serwah Sarpong on Akoma FM, the Minister of God stated that if Shatta Wale approaches him about collaborating, he will agree with a condition.

“If Shatta Wale wants to work with me, I’ll allow it but I’ll determine the words of the song, not him,” he said.

According to him, he will scrutinise the content brought on board by the ‘Dancehall King’ hitmaker and ensure that the tune that results from their collaboration is a lovely piece.

“If the content is not good, I will not sing and I will not allow him to do it as well. I will show him the right thing so that we will make the upcoming track a beautiful one,” he stated.

Rev. Yaw Agyeman Badu, commonly known as Rev. YABS, addressed the matter of public censure and stated that if he works with Shatta Wale, nothing negative will be said about him, particularly his appearance.

“Again, when we do the show, I will make him dress in a way that someone who doesn’t know Shatta Wale or hasn’t seen him before has no negative comment about how he looks,” he said.

Furthermore, he stated that “the condemnation done by the masses is not right.” The Bible instructs us not to pass judgement on others.”
