The late Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedru III, is having his death rites performed at the Ga Mantse palace in North Kaneshie, Accra.
There are crimson and black decorations throughout the castle that represent grief.
All festivities are proceeding as planned as the Ga state pays its last respects to its royal mother.
The events began on Thursday, with Asafo companies (warriors) marching through Accra’s streets while shooting muskets.
On Friday, there was a parade and demonstration of Ga culture and dance with the Asafoatsemei and Asafoanyemei (men and women warriors).
This came before a Friday night vigil.
In honour of the late Naa Dedei Omaedru III, no stores will be open on Saturday, October 28.
Red and black ribbons greet visitors to the Greater Accra regional capital at all key junctions.
