Injury updates on Thomas Partey, Ashimeru, Sulemana, and Others for Ghana vs. CAR

Prince Pambo, the Black Stars team doctor, has offered an update on players who were unable to join the squad for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Central African Republic owing to injuries.

On Thursday, September 7, 2023, Ghana will face Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Thomas Partey, Daniel Amartey, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Joseph Wolaccott are notable absentees.

On Thomas Partey:

On Thursday, August 31, 2023, he suffered a groyne injury while exercising. He is now unavailable, as Club Doctors believe he will be out for several weeks.

On Daniel Amartey:

On Sunday, August 27, 2023, he suffered a hamstring injury while training and is temporarily out. According to Club Doctors, he will be sidelined for two weeks.

Majeed Ashimeru:

He suffered a hamstring injury while training in early August and will be absent for a few weeks.

Joseph Wollacott:

Joseph had a thigh (quadriceps) injury while training in mid-August. He will most likely be sidelined for 8 weeks from the day of the injury.

Kamaldeen Sulemana:

The winger suffered a hamstring injury in July. He is now running and performing field or ball exercises, but he has yet to participate in team training. Club doctors expect him to be back in action in a few weeks.

Mohammed Salisu:  

Salisu is currently being rehabbed with his club due to a long-standing ailment (Osteitis Pubis). Club Doctors will keep us up to date on his development.

Benjamin Tetteh:

According to his club Doctors, he suffered a quadriceps injury during training on Friday, August 25, 2023, and will be sidelined for roughly three weeks.
