John Fogerty's Net Worth in 2023, Age, Height, Parents, and Children

John Cameron Fogerty was born in Berkeley, California on May 28, 1945. John was raised in El Cerrito with four brothers by middle-class parents and attended a Catholic school during his childhood. The school was quite rigorous, and John wet himself since he wasn’t permitted to use the lavatory during class. He transferred to another school after a year. His parents (whom Forgety alleges were drinkers) had split by the time he was in fourth grade.

Fogerty met the eventual members of CCR in El Cerrito High School after changing schools a number of times. During this time, he began taking guitar lessons with Barry Olivier. John and his elder brother Tom subsequently formed a band with other students that evolved into CCR. Despite being signed by Fantasy Records, the group was not economically successful.

Fogerty got his drafting notice for military duty in the Vietnam War in 1986. When he received the notice, he went to a US Army Reserve recruiter and enlisted as a supply clerk. It’s unclear why he was able to join the reserves and escape duty in Vietnam, but John believes the recruiter may have timed the papers such that his acceptance into the reserves occurred before the draught notice went into force. John finished his training in 1967 and was released in 1968.

Personal Life

Martha Paiz was John Fogerty’s first wife, and they married in 1965. They divorced in the mid-1970s after having three children together. While on tour in 1986, Fogerty had a love involvement with Julie Kramer. They ultimately married in 1991 and had three children together. During John’s concerts, several of their children appear on stage alongside him.

In 2008, John paid $1.385 million for a home in Beverly Hills. It was small by his high standards (particularly when compared to the rest of his real estate holdings), therefore it should come as no surprise that this was an investment property. The property, which has a good 1,920 square feet of living area, was rented out by Fogerty. At one point, John rented this house for $5,400 a month. He decided to cash in on his investment in 2015, selling the home for $1.475. This left him with a profit of about $100,000, in addition to the rental revenue.

In 2013, it was announced that Fogerty had acquired a $8.95 million home in Thousand Oaks, California’s upscale neighbourhood. The 13,000-square-foot home, which lies on more than 20 acres of property, has hardwood flooring, five fireplaces and a wine closet. There is also a 12-car garage, a salt-water swimming pool, and fountain-adorned gardens.

During the summer of 2013, Fogerty and his wife listed another Beverly Hills home for around $23.5 million. This second home has around 13,000 square feet of residential space as well. They sold this house a year later for $18.6 million to auto financing mogul Don Hankey and his wife Debbie.

Fogerty and his wife spent $6.75 million for a property in Encino, California, in 2018. This home was advertised for sale in March 2021 for slightly under $9 million. Before the Fogertys conducted a large restoration that entirely transformed the external appearance in 2016, this is how the house looked:

In 2019, Fogerty received considerable acclaim for purchasing a house for a US combat veteran. He utilised money from the cancelled Woodstock 50 event to purchase the container house for the lucky veteran. The Veterans Village Container Homes organisation constructs these homes out of reused shipping containers. The purpose is to offer affordable homes for people and families. The festival’s primary financial supporter allegedly lost $32 million as a result of the festival’s cancellation.

Career

After leaving the service, John Fogerty’s music career took off. His former band changed their name to Creedence Clearwater Revival and published their debut album in 1968. Their first hit single “Susie Q” made quite a sensation, and the band went on to have a great run with albums like “Bayou Country.” Other chart-topping singles were “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Run Through the Jungle,” and “Fortunate Son.”

Despite being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, CCR only managed to stay together for four years. The band separated in 1972 as a result of a protracted quarrel inside the band. Fogerty was at the centre of this argument, believing that as the main vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary composer, he should have more creative authority. After Tom quit the band in 1971, Fogerty worked hard to keep the other members together by giving them equal songwriting and vocal responsibilities. The final album they released was “Mardis Gras.”

Following the breakup, John Fogerty launched a solo career. Rather of using his own name, he published his debut solo album as “The Blue Ridge Rangers,” despite the fact that he was the sole member of this group. He then released “John Fogerty,” his second solo album. Both of these albums were not commercially successful, and things didn’t get any better with the release of “Hoodoo.”

Following a brief absence from the music business, John returned in 1985 with the album “Centerfield.” This was a larger hit than his prior attempts, yet his follow-up album “Eye of the Zombie” failed to make an impression. Following another hiatus from music, Fogerty returned to the mainstream in 1997 with the album “Blue Moon Swamp.” This was his most successful solo effort to date, earning him a Grammy for Best Rock Album.

Throughout the next few years, Fogerty toured and released albums such as “Deja Vu All Over Again” and “The Long Road Home.” Many of these albums received critical praise and were nominated for Grammys and other awards.
