Money won’t determine the outcome of the NPP presidential race – Sammi Awuku

Mr Awuku, a key member of Dr Bawumia's campaign team, rejected the charges on Adom FM's morning show, Dwaso Nsem, on Thursday. He stressed that the NPP's electoral process is not focused on who has money or who can pay large sums to delegates.

Sammi Awuku, a former National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stated that money would not be a crucial issue in the November 4 presidential primaries.

He believes it will be difficult for an aspirant to pay all of the approximately 200,000 delegates scheduled to vote.

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) chief’s remark comes in the aftermath of charges of monetary enticement, notably against Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the Saturday election.

Mr Awuku, a key member of Dr Bawumia’s campaign team, rejected the charges on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, on Thursday.

He stressed that the NPP’s electoral process is not focused on who has money or who can pay large sums to delegates.

“The selection has never been based on who has the most money because you will lose or may win but will be unable to celebrate because you pursued a selfish interest.” The delegates have made their decision and will vote on it on election day.

“Rather than who pays the most money, we should vote for someone who has a national appeal and the ability to win political power for the party and competently steer national affairs,” he said.
