Mortal remains of Raphael Dwamena arrives in Ghana

Dwamena's body arrived in Accra late Friday night at the Kotoka International Airport. The player had a history of cardiac difficulties, having had three heart failures in the years preceding his death.

Raphael Dwamena, a Ghanaian football player, died last week in Albania and his remains landed in Ghana on Friday evening.

On November 11, 2023, the 28-year-old striker collapsed during a league match between his team, Egnatia FC, and Partizani Tirana.

Soon after, he was pronounced dead.

A minute of silence was observed before Ghana’s 1-0 friendly triumph against Madagascar on Friday as a gesture of respect for Dwamena.

Dwamena was a gifted footballer who represented Ghana at the senior international level.

On June 11, 2017, he made his international debut for Ghana’s Black Stars against Ethiopia, scoring a brace.

He went on to appear in nine games for the men’s senior national team.
