MTN suspends its intention to reconsider the MoMo cashout fee

MTN Ghana has decided to halt its plans to reconsider the cashout cost for Mobile Money transactions.

The first idea was to levy a 1% fee on transactions up to GH2,000, with a flat cost of GH20 for transactions over that level.

The review was supposed to go into effect on July 1, 2023.

However, in a recent email to their clients on June 26, MTN Ghana reported that the proposed rate modification has been rescinded.

“The planned review of the MoMo cashout fee has been withdrawn,” they said. The current cashout fee of 1%, with a limit of GH10, will be applied to your wallet. We sincerely apologise for any trouble this has caused.”

The anticipated price increase drew a lot of attention and sparked some worries among MTN Mobile Money customers.
