In an alarming trend, the Tema tollbooth on the Accra-Tema road in the Greater Accra Region has seen an unsettling number of fatalities.
This site claimed the lives of 12 people between November 11, 2021, and June 26, 2023.
Mr Paul Bruce Amoah, the Director of the Ghana Police Service’s Tema Regional Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD), attributed these unfortunate accidents to inadequate visibility along that stretch of road.
Mr Amoah cites a lack of sufficient illumination in the tollbooth area as a major contributing factor.
The lack of adequate illumination exacerbates the already existent risks, resulting in terrible accidents and the loss of innocent lives.
