Hunter shoots a man in Sehwi Afrewa after mistaking him for game

A 47-year-old hunter died while hunting with a companion in the Aferewa forest reserve in the Bodi District of the Western North Region.

Yaw Emmanuel is said to have been killed by his companion Adjei Christopher, who mistaken him for a monkey while hunting.

According to the information acquired, the two men went looking for antelopes and grasscutters at first, but after numerous fruitless efforts, they settled on monkeys.

While Christopher was equipped with a revolver, the victim, Emmanuel, was armed with a cutlass as they searched for monkeys in the trees.

Emmanuel allegedly aimed at a monkey dangling from one of the trees and fired a shot that hit the victim in the waist, killing him instantly.

The suspect instantly reported himself to police in Bodi, and the corpse was later recovered from the forest.

The dead has been sent to the Juaboso government hospital for further police investigation.

The suspect has been held in order to aid the investigation.
