Nacee, a Ghanaian singer and producer who was a member of the legendary gospel duo No Tribe alongside Lord Bondzie, has revealed in a new interview the hardships he had while with the group and why they parted.
Speaking openly with Rosleyn Feli about his decision to leave No Tribe, Nacee admitted that there was financial hardship and misunderstandings that led to his resignation.
According to the ‘Aseda’ vocalist, part of No Tribe’s problems stemmed from his status as the group’s major funder for song creation.
When summoned to perform at events, he frequently had to cover expenditures himself and even went above and above to guarantee that the team’s demands were satisfied, regardless of their capacity to pay. While his intentions were good, Nacee saw that this technique was not long-term viable because it exhausted his own resources.
He stated, “Some of the problems that No Tribe encountered and for which I had to pull a break were because when No Tribe was called to perform at events, I always had to go and cash out some money because of my music production. At least I had people paying me some money. So I tried and made sure that I could cushion them and make sure everybody is fine even when the person is not able to pay. But it was the wrong decision because I could have used my money for something else.”
The Breaking Point and Accusations:
An accusation launched against Nacee after a specific performance was one key incident that added to the developing animosity inside No Tribe.
An other musician who shared the bill with No Tribe was immediately paid, but there were delays in remitting the group’s revenue.
Miscommunications occurred, and Nacee was unjustly accused of withholding the money, generating additional discontent among the group.
With escalating concerns and issues, Nacee took the tough decision to leave No Tribe.
“When we completed, the money was delayed, and everyone assumed I had received it, but I stated that I had not. So what occurred was that I paid them money to keep them going till the money arrived… There were already issues before the money arrived. Then I said, “I’m tired of hearing all these complaints, and if they can’t see anything positive in what I do, let’s take a break.”
He voiced his tiredness as a result of the ongoing dissatisfaction and the inability of some team members to recognise his efforts.
Unwavering Compassion in the Face of Adversity:
Despite the obstacles he faces inside No Tribe, Nacee is committed to helping others.
He stressed his desire to help others but admitted that human nature sometimes leads to ingratitude.
Appreciating someone’s efforts, according to Nacee, demands a God-fearing heart, which he says is an uncommon attribute among individuals.
