Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson has joined Chelsea.
The 22-year-old has agreed to an eight-year contract with Chelsea after Chelsea paid Villarreal slightly more than his £30.1 million release clause in return for better payment conditions.
Following the £52 million purchase of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig in May, the Senegalese attacker becomes Mauricio Pochettino’s second summer signing since taking over in May.
Bournemouth agreed to acquire the Senegalese attacker for £22.5 million in January, but he failed his physical due to a hamstring injury.
“We are excited to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea,” stated Chelsea co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley. As he showed for Villarreal last season, he is a young player with a lot of potential.
“We believe he is ready for this next step in his career and look forward to him working with our new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, and his Chelsea teammates.”
