Nigerian musicians dominate the worldwide music market, while Ghanaians battle with luck to fill small venues - Bulldog

Artiste manager Lawrence Asiamah Hanson aka Bulldog has lamented the status of Ghana’s music business.

According to him, whereas Nigerian artistes work hard to gain fans for their music, Ghanaian musicians rely on luck.

Bulldog’s remarks follow Burna Boy’s sold-out show in New York City’s 41,000-capacity Madison Square Garden.

Meanwhile, Burna Boy is just one of a slew of Nigerian musicians that have garnered international acclaim in recent years. Wizkid, Davido, and Tiwa Savage are some Nigerian artistes that have created waves on the international scene.

Bulldog feels that the Ghanaian music industry’s troubles are due to a “culture of ingratitude.”

He added that Ghanaians are not supportive of their own musicians, which is hindering Ghanaian artistes from reaching their full potential.

Meanwhile, Bulldog’s statements have created a social media controversy, with some agreeing with him and others believing he is being too harsh.

There is little doubt, however, that the Ghanaian music business is suffering significant issues. If Ghanaian musicians wish to reach worldwide success, they must overcome these obstacles.
