The Ghana Education Service (GES) has denounced the alleged attack on a student by the Nkwatia Presby SHS Assistant Headmaster (Academics).
The event was videotaped and has gone viral on social media.
The video shows the Assistant Headmaster hitting and beating the youngster, who appears to be in his second year.
In a statement, the GES stated that it was “disturbed” by the video and “unequivocally condemns the actions of the Assistant Headmaster.”
According to the GES, the Assistant Headmaster has been dismissed of his duties, and the pupil is getting medical attention and counselling.
The GES also stated that the Eastern Regional Director of Education was working with school officials and the appropriate law enforcement agency to investigate the incident.
The GES reminded the public that it was dedicated to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students throughout the country.
The event prompted fury on social media, with many people demanding that the Assistant Headmaster be arrested and charged.
