Roger reached the semifinals of a tournament in Vienna shortly after going pro in 1999. Roger became the ATP’s youngest top 100 player after a string of high-profile victories. Roger represented Switzerland in the Olympics in 2000. He did not win any medals, but he did surprise many by making it to the semifinals. Tommy Haas and Arnaud Di Pasquale eventually overcame him.
