Tiwa Savage, the multi-award-winning Nigerian diva, has cancelled all of her upcoming gigs, including her first-ever headline stadium event in London, owing to medical issues.
Tiwas Savage revealed in a statement on Tuesday that she has been suffering a virus for the past several weeks and has been ordered to be on strict voice rest for the next three months.
“I’m heartbroken and devastated, but I have to do this to save what’s left of my voice,” she said.
Savage apologised to her supporters and vowed to return to the stage once she had recovered completely.
“I love you all and promise to be back performing once I’m fully healed,” she added.
The postponement of the famed Nigerian diva is a significant disappointment for her admirers, who had been looking forward to her first-ever headline stadium engagement in London. The performance was set for October 22 at Wembley Arena.
Savage is one of Africa’s most prominent and successful artists. She has received a slew of honours, including the MTV Africa Music Award for Best Female Artist and the BET Award for Best International Act: Africa.
Her collaborations with worldwide singers such as Beyoncé, Coldplay, and Sam Smith are also well-known.
