Andre Onana of Manchester United has been called up to Cameroon’s National Men’s Football Team ahead of the Indomitable Lions’ 2023 AFCON qualifier against Burundi.
On Tuesday, September 12, Cameroon will face Burundi in the last round of qualification games, with both teams requiring a win to qualify for next year’s championship.
Both countries have four points after three games, with a victory, a draw, and a loss; Namibia leads Group C with five points.
Despite the fact that the former Inter Milan shot-stopper announced his retirement following a big dispute with Song, Onana is one of three goalkeepers called up by head coach Rigobert Song for the encounter.
Cameroon’s World Cup campaign in 2022 was derailed by Onana’s removal from the team’s headquarters after he disagreed with Song’s request to modify his dangerous way of manning the position.
It is unknown whether he will accept the offer and return to international football.
