A young guy is in police detention after reportedly murdering his girlfriend in Trom, a neighbourhood of Koforidua in the Eastern Region’s New Juaben South Municipality.
According to the deceased young lady’s co-tenants, the event occurred on Saturday when the lady walked outside to meet the young guy, who then entered the complex with the young girl.
According to her co-tenants, the young girl was a former student of Koforidua Ghanass and a Suhum local.
She was working as a barman at a renowned bar in the neighbourhood named. She moved from Koforidua Betom to Trom Junction 5 about a year ago when a young man threatened to harm her if she ended their connection.
It is unknown what motivated the young guy to murder his lover.
According to accounts, he bound her lips, shoved material into her mouth, and then cut her neck. The young lady’s fight went unnoticed by her neighbours, who were preoccupied with a naming ceremony taking place in the compound at the time of the crime.
After perpetrating the alleged murder, the young guy mounted the wall, dropped his weapon, and later that night reported himself to authorities.
As part of their investigation, officers went to the spot on Sunday with the suspect to collect inventory.
However, they had to take the guy away swiftly after detecting danger from the enraged throng that was preparing to assault him.
The corpse of the young lady, thought to be in her early twenties, has subsequently been placed at the mortuary of the Eastern Regional Hospital.
