AFCON Qualifiers: Madagascar will be difficult for Ghana - Chris Hughton

Madagascar will not be an easy opponent for Ghana, according to Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton, ahead of their encounter in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers on Sunday.

Ghana plays Madagascar in their last qualifying game, knowing that three points will be enough to qualify for next year’s AFCON, which will be held in Ivory Coast.

Speaking to the media during Tuesday’s training, the 64-year-old advised Ghanaians and players not to look down on their opponents ahead of the match on Sunday.

“When we do our homework, when we watch the opposition, there isn’t one opposition that we see that we think this is going to be easy. There isn’t one. Every international team is fighting to do well. The Madagascar team will be no different,” he told the press.

He also mentioned that the players are prepared for the contest.

“Generally, the morale is very good. The concentration is the football match and that is winning a football match,” he noted.

The Black Stars will undergo their third closed-door training session on Wednesday, June 14, before departing Accra on Thursday.
