Fred Achie debunks claim linking him to Kotoko CEO role

Frederick Acheampong, also known as Fred Achie, Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association, has finally responded to the rising rumours linking him to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) post of Asante Kotoko.

According to rumours in some sections of the Ghanaian media, the former Ashanti Gold manager informed his confidants that he is in line to be the next CEO of the Porcupine Warriors, replacing departing Nana Yaw Amponsah.

However, the CAF match coordinator in reaction to a group discussion on Whatsapp following an earlier publication by ghfrontpage.com, the sports journalist cum football administrator has promptly put down the rumours.

“It’s not true. Do they know my friends? There’s no truth about it,” he said.

Nana Yaw Amponsah’s term as CEO of Asante Kotoko has come to an end following the club’s board’s dissolution on Monday.

After a trophyless season and internal differences among the leadership, club owner Asantehene Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II decided to dismiss the board, chaired by Dr Kwame Kyei.

The breakup has heightened the number of applicants, with many administrators expressing interest in leading the club.

Kotoko would have to regroup and find new leaders to guide the club forward and solve the issues that led to the board’s collapse.
