Frederick Acheampong, also known as Fred Achie, has informed his confidantes that he will be appointed as the future Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko.
Manhyia, the club’s seat of power, has dismissed the club’s Board of Directors and the administration led by Nana Yaw Amponsah. On Accra-based Asempa FM, Kwame Aboagye Mensah, personal assistant to Kofi Badu, the Chief of Staff of Manhyia, announced the dissolution of the board and management.
The breakup has heightened the number of applicants, with many administrators expressing interest in leading the club.
According to a confidant of Frederick Acheampong, the former AshantiGold SC CEO will be chosen as the club’s next president.
Listowell Mensah, an Accra-based journalist, verified the rumours via his Twitter profile as he posted about the reports.
Achie was the head of the management committee for Ghana’s U23 team, which was eliminated from the AFCON U23 tournament in Morocco.
The 2023 edition was not Fred Achie’s first failure as the leader of Ghana’s U23 squad at the U23 AFCON competition, as he also led the team in Egypt in 2019, where Ghana failed to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
In April 2020, he was also sacked as CEO of AshantiGold.
