Breaking: Manhyia dissolves Asante Kotoko board and management

Asante Kotoko has taken extreme measures after a poor season in which they failed to win any trophies. According to Ghanasoccernet.com, Asantehene Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, the club’s owner, has dismissed the board and management.

The board, chaired by Dr Kwame Kyei, was formed in 2020 and Nana Yaw Amponsah was named as the management team’s leader in August of the same year. The partnership between the two organisations was initially successful, with the team winning the Ghana Premier League title in their second season.

However, it appears that problems between management and the board have surfaced. Dr Kwame Kyei’s participation with Nations FC, which was promoted to the Ghana Premier League last season, appears to have taken his focus away from Asante Kotoko.

Nana Yaw Amponsah addressed the difficulties within the club’s leadership in June. “As I sit here, I have no problem with Dr Kwame Kyei,” he said. I treat him with the utmost respect whenever and whenever I meet him, but our connection and how we interact as CEO and board chairman are not as good as they were in the beginning.”

According to reports, Asantehene Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II decided to disband both the board and the management team due to the club’s trophyless season and a lack of peace among the club’s leadership. This transfer represents the necessity for a new beginning and a reevaluation of the club’s future orientation.

Kotoko, a club known for its rich history and devoted fan base, will have to reorganise and rebuild under new management.
