Former Asante Kotoko Administrative Manager tells newly appointed IMC not to be complacent

Samuel Sarfo Duku, former Administrative Manager and Head of Legal Affairs at Kumasi Asante Kotoko has welcomed the selection of the four-member Interim Management Committee.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the club’s life patron, formed the committee to manage the club’s activities in the following season.

Prosper Narteh Ogum, the club’s head coach, and former Black Stars boss James Akwesi Appiah are the two famous figures on the committee, with the latter serving as the club’s Technical Advisor and the former returning for a second tenure.

Sarfo Duku, who talked exclusively to Citi Sports, praised the gathered team and believes they can achieve great things this season.

Yes, I see it as a very promising and productive IMC because of the blend of knowledge and good skill. Regarding the Administrative aspects, I am told [Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua] is a Chartered Accountant, and looking at the background of Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi, Akwesi Appiah and Ogum, who are also on board as technical persons in the game of football, I think it is a promising team.

I wish them well, but they shouldn’t think they know everything, and not rely on other people for help if the need arises.

Football is a very complicated industry, Kotoko is a big family with people from all walks of life with different opinions.

They should know how to handle the affairs of the club, so they get the support of all if they want to succeed. That is what they should aim at.

The Interim Management Committee is made up of the following individuals:

Apinkra, Nana Akwasi Awua is a chartered accountant who serves as Kontomponiaferehene.
Former Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah has vast expertise in football management.
Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum: Appointed as the team’s new head coach, bringing his knowledge.
Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi: Appointed administrative manager to oversee the club’s administrative operations.
The IMC’s principal role is to guarantee that Asante Kotoko meets all of the Ghana Premier League’s statutory duties and prepares a strong and competitive team for the forthcoming season.

The IMC will give direction and assistance to the club throughout this period of transition to guarantee its smooth operation.

With the term of the Dr. Kwame Kyei-led Board of Directors expiring earlier this month, Asante Kotoko is embracing change and looking forward to a bright future under the Interim Management Committee’s direction.

"The spectators threw urine and insulted me and the players. We needed to protect ourselves, so we raced to the pitch, but to be honest, I responded to them," he told Akoma FM. "As a 30-year lover of the game, I had never seen anything like this before. It was more like a fight than a football match."

Bashir Hayford, the head coach of the Hearts of Oak Lions, delayed his team’s game against Bechem United on Saturday by sitting in the centre of the pitch due to biassed officiating.

During the game at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Hayford took a seat in the centre of the pitch, forcing a 20-minute stoppage in play.

The legendary Ghanaian trainer’s actions were in protest of what was described as one-sided officiating.

Following a brief break, Hayford left the field, allowing the game to resume. Despite playing with one man down, Bechem averted a loss on the day.

The draw drops Lions into the relegation zone, three points below Bofoakwa Tano, who sits above it.
