After effectively settling concerns between the two sides, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that they would resume their cooperation with beIN Sports.
In September, CAF cancelled its 12-year, $415 million broadcast contract with beIN Sports, claiming a violation of the contract. However, following amicable conversations, the parties have reached a mutually beneficial arrangement, opening the path for their relationship to continue.
CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe welcomed the news, underlining the significance of maintaining healthy partnerships with sponsors and partners. He emphasised the need for strong governance, ethics, and worldwide best practices in CAF operations, as well as investing in youth academies, football clubs, national teams, and other football infrastructure.
The collaboration between CAF and beIN Sports is important for the growth and development of football in Africa since it gives the sport visibility and financial resources. The agreement includes broadcast rights to CAF’s international and club football events, including the Africa Cup of Nations and the Champions League, for 40 nations in the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia-Pacific areas, as well as France and the United States.
With their disputes resolved, CAF and beIN Sports can now focus on growing their collaboration and promoting African football to a broader audience.
