Bernard Allotey Jacobs, former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has condemned the religious campaign against Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Allotey Jacobs pounced on those who used the Muslim issue against Dr Bawumia, alleging the NPP would lose the next elections with him in charge.
Critics say that in a country dominated by Christians, Dr Bawumia’s Muslim status will jeopardise the party’s chances of success in the 2024 elections.
Mr Jacobs, on the other hand, has refuted the notion that the Vice President’s Islamic heritage poses a danger to the NPP’s electoral fortunes.
Dr Bawumia, he asserted, is “more Christian than those Christians.” He is a lot greater Christian than those who beat their chest and proclaim themselves to be Christians. “Despite being an Islamic person or a Muslim, Bawumia is more Christian than the Christians,” he claimed on Accra-based Peace FM.
Mr Jacobs praised Dr Bawumia as the NPP’s rightful leader and warned his assailants to cease attacking him.
