Asamoah Gyan’s lawyer denies accusations of a court order in his divorce case

Mr Kusi-Appiah said, "The court also found that Gifty was married prior to her union with Gyan, and the court proceeded to annul it." Nonetheless, there was no precise confirmation regarding the purported monthly stipend of GH25,000 intended for the care and upkeep of Gyan's three children with his ex-wife, Gifty.

Asamoah Gyan’s legal counsel, Edwin Kusi-Appiah, has denied accusations that the court ordered his client to surrender his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan, a petrol station, two cars, a residence in London, and other assets.

Gyan was ordered by the court to pay Gifty a monthly stipend of GH25,000 for the care and upkeep of their three children on October 31, 2023, according to social media reports.

However, Kusi-Appiah confirmed that Gyan won the court battle and that the aforementioned assets were already in Gifty’s name.

Gyan, according to him, attempted to annul his marriage to Gifty owing to her prior marriage, which was found after their union and deemed their marriage null and void.

“Gyan went to the court with the petition for annulment of his marriage because his wife whom he married in 2013 was married to another person which was not known to him.

“The wife on the other hand argued that the case brought was not true and that the stipulated marriage was a marriage of convenience and asked the court to dissolve the marriage and not annul it. She also asked the court to give her more than six houses, several cars and other things which the court did not grant.”

Mr Kusi-Appiah said, “The court also found that Gifty was married prior to her union with Gyan, and the court proceeded to annul it.”
