A goal by Michelle Ivory Cooper, Alyssa Paola Thompson, and Allyson Marie Senator handed Black Princesses their defeat in the hands of the Yanks of USA in Group D opener in the ongoing FIFA U-2O Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
”The Yanks” skipper, Michelle Cooper, stepped up in the 11th minute of the game to show her leadership qualities by heading the ball into the net of Black Princesses.
Alyssa Thompson doubled the lead in the 38 minutes to give her side 2 goals to nil lead at halftime.
The Black Princesses who failed to swing more than two descent passes together were downsized to 10 girls following Jacqueline Owusu’s exit in the 31st minute after impeding her maker in a challenge.
The Yanks of the USA persisted in their predominant performance after recess, while the Princesses were chasing the shadows of the Yanks. In the 6th minutes into the second half, Marie Sentnor slashed the last goal to cement the conquest for the three time champions.
The Black Princesses had zero shot on target while the Yanks had 8 shots on target and enjoyed the largest ball possession, of 73% of possession as against Ghana’s 27.
Ghana will seek the redeem themselves against the defending champions, Japan on Sunday 14 August 2022, at 17:00 pm.
