Driver's mate killed and two others injured in a horrifying collision on the Accra-Kumasi route

A driver’s mate was killed by fire, and two other drivers are fighting for their lives after suffering varying degrees of burns.

This occurred after a bitumen tank trailer disconnected, caught fire, and collided with a cargo vehicle near Asuboi on the Accra-Kumasi Highway in the Eastern area.

The bitumen tank trailer was on its way to Suhum when it became disconnected near Asuboi.

It caught fire and collided with the back of a cargo vehicle in front of it, igniting a fire.

The driver’s mate, who was resting at the trailer’s sleeper top, was burned beyond recognition.

The trailer driver had severe burns, while the cargo driver received moderate injuries.

They were brought to Nsawam Government Hospital for treatment, while the burnt body of the driver’s friend was removed and put in the same hospital’s mortuary.

The Ghana National Fire Service came on the spot to put out the fire.

After hours of gridlock, police ensured that the accident vehicles were hauled from the road, allowing traffic to flow freely.

In a similar occurrence, while the accident site at Asuboi was being controlled, a Hyundai H100 delivering food and four people were involved in a wreck near the scene at Teacher Mante.

According to eyewitnesses, the moving vehicle’s tyre blew out, forcing it to tumble.

The victims were sent to the Nsawam Government Hospital as well.
