FIFA has recognised receipt of a petition against Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), made by a Ghanaian whistleblower.
Okraku is accused of violating FIFA’s code of ethics, according to the petition.
According to Muftawu Nabila of Joy Sports, FIFA stated that the petition was filed on July 7, 2023, and that the FIFA Secretariat may launch preliminary investigations into the alleged infraction of the rule of ethics, based on orders from the Chairperson of the Investigatory Chamber.
“Following an evaluation of the documents and information submitted, the Secretariat may initiate preliminary investigations into a potential breach of the FCE following instructions from the Chairperson of the Investigatory Chamber in accordance with Article 61 FCE,” portion of the confirmation email said.
While FIFA acknowledged receipt of the petition, it provided no information on the present state of the proceedings or whether it has been received by the Independent Investigatory Chamber.
“We are not in a position to provide you any further information regarding the state of the proceedings (if any),” it stated.
In his appeal, the whistleblower, Akwasi Ossei Nkrumah, outlined multiple alleged violations of FIFA’s code of ethics by President Okraku. Forgery and falsification, conflict of interest, misuse of position, breach of duty of allegiance, and manipulation of football matches or tournaments are among the claimed violations.
Nkrumah says, among other things, that Okraku is the director of Dreams Football Club, a Ghana Premier League club, as well as Proton Sports Services, a player and match agency that purportedly breaches FIFA’s laws.

Kurt Okraku, who was elected President of the GFA in October 2019, has stated his desire to run for re-election for a second term in October of this year.
