Real Madrid extends Luka Modric's contract

Real Madrid has revealed that Croatian star Luka Modric has agreed to extend his contract until the summer of 2024.

Modric, who turns 38 in September, has opted to stay at Real Madrid and has signed a contract extension until June 2024.

The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner will join colleague Toni Kroos, who has also decided to extend his Real Madrid contract for another year.

Modric joined Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2012, and he has won five Champions League championships, three La Liga crowns, and two Copa del Reys during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Modric had received an excellent offer from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, but he opted to remain in Madrid.

On Twitter, he tweeted, “Home Sweet Home.”

Modric is expected to assist his club make up for last season’s dismal results, which saw Madrid lose out on both the Champions League and the league crown.

Modric, who was named UEFA’s Best Men’s Player of the Year in 2018, will also coach a number of young players at the club, including new arrival Jude Bellingham from Dortmund.
