We are disappointed by Alan’s resignation but we accept his decision – NPP

It is worth noting that when the Party's National Chairman [Stephen Ntim] paid him a visit following the August 26 Special Electoral College in an attempt to bring all 10 aspirants together, he showed no signs of withdrawing from the party, let alone becoming independent. Mr. Kyerematen's services to the growth and development of our party throughout the years have been recognised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP). "We respect his decision and express our gratitude for the services he has provided to the NPP and the nation," the NPP's General Secretary stated. On Monday, September 25, the former Trade and Industry Minister resigned from the NPP and declared his intention to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it respects Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s decision to withdraw from the party.

While accepting that the party recognises Mr Kyerematen’s choice, the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Koduah, expressed concern in the absence of previous communication to the party’s leadership prior to the public announcement on Tuesday, September 26.

Mr Kyerematen’s choice, according to Koduah, was ‘pre-meditated,’ considering the manner in which he resigned through a press conference.

“The disappointing part is the mode in which he decided to resign from the party, which was through a press conference without prior notice to the party. The Party wants to believe that by his decision to hold the press conference to resign without first informing the leadership of the Party suggests that he has made a premeditated and irrevocable decision to resign from the Party.

For more than a decade, Mr Kyerematen has complained about alleged NPP divisions and aggressive assaults on himself and his followers.
